About the Salary to Hourly Calculator
This calculator turns a yearly salary into its hourly equivalent, plus daily, weekly, and monthly figures — handy for comparing a salaried role against hourly work or a contract rate.
How it’s calculated
Hourly rate = annual salary ÷ (hours per week × weeks worked per year). Use 50 weeks to reflect two weeks of unpaid time off.
Example calculation
A $75,000 salary at 40 hours a week over 52 weeks works out to about $36 an hour.
Frequently asked questions
Should I use 52 or 50 weeks?
Use 52 for a straight conversion, or fewer (e.g. 50) if you take unpaid time off, which raises the effective hourly rate for the hours you actually work.
Does this include benefits?
No — it's a gross-pay conversion. Salaried roles often add health insurance, retirement matches, and PTO that an hourly rate alone doesn't capture.
