Privacy policy

The short version

• Your calculator inputs are processed entirely in your browser and are never transmitted to us.
• We do not ask for or store your name, email, or any account details. There are no accounts.
• A few preferences (your light/dark choice, recently used calculators, recent searches) are saved locally on your own device. You can clear them at any time.
• Our web host keeps standard server logs, as every web host does.
• Advertising on this site is served by Google, which uses cookies. You can opt out of personalised advertising — links are below.

Information you enter into calculators

Loan amounts, salaries, balances, interest rates, and every other figure you type into a calculator are processed by JavaScript running on your own device. They are not sent to our servers, because the site has no application server — it is a set of static files delivered to your browser.

We therefore never see, store, or share these values. We could not produce them if asked, because we never receive them.

One exception worth understanding: if you use the Share button on a calculator, your inputs are encoded into a link so the person you send it to sees the same scenario. That link is created on your device and shared only by you, to whoever you choose. Anyone holding it can see those values, so treat a shared link as you would the numbers inside it.

Information stored on your device

We use your browser's local storage — not cookies — for a small number of conveniences. This data stays on your device and is not transmitted to us:

• Theme preference — whether you chose light or dark mode.
• Recently used calculators — up to eight calculator names, so we can show you a "recently used" shortcut.
• Recent searches — up to six search terms you typed into the site search.

None of this identifies you, and none of it includes the figures you entered into a calculator. You can delete it at any time by clearing site data for this domain in your browser settings, or by using the "Clear" button on the recently-used section of the homepage. The site works normally without it.

Server logs

Like virtually every website, the server that delivers these pages keeps access logs. These typically record the IP address making the request, the page requested, the date and time, the referring page, and your browser's user-agent string. This is standard hosting infrastructure, is used to keep the site running and to investigate abuse or technical faults, and is not used to build a profile of you.

Cookies and advertising

NumberPilot carries advertising, which is what keeps the calculators free. Advertising on this site is served by Google AdSense. Ad units may not yet appear on every page while the site's ad setup is being completed, but this policy describes how they work when they do.

Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites:

• Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and other sites on the internet.
• You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
• You can opt out of third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info/choices, or, in Europe, at youronlinechoices.eu.
• Third-party vendors and ad networks other than Google may also serve ads on this site and set their own cookies. We do not control those cookies, and their use is governed by the privacy policies of the vendors concerned.

Opting out of personalised advertising does not remove ads — it makes them less relevant to you.

What we do not do

To be explicit, because these are the things people reasonably worry about:

• We do not sell your data. We have none to sell.
• We do not run analytics that follow you across the web.
• We do not require, request, or store an email address.
• We do not send marketing email.
• We do not share your calculator figures with lenders, brokers, insurers, or anyone else.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights over personal data held about you — including the right to access it, correct it, delete it, or object to its processing. In the European Economic Area and the UK these rights come from the GDPR; in California, from the CCPA/CPRA.

Because we do not collect personal data through this site, in most cases we hold nothing to give you. Where your rights concern advertising cookies set by Google or other vendors, those are best exercised through the opt-out links above and through your browser's cookie controls.

Because this site operates no accounts and no database, there is generally nothing for us to hand over, correct, or erase on request — the data described above never leaves your own device, and you can delete all of it yourself by clearing site data in your browser.

Children's privacy

This site is intended for a general adult audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children — the site collects no personal information from anyone.

Links to other sites

Pages here may link to external websites, and advertisements will lead to sites we do not control. This policy covers only NumberPilot. Once you follow a link elsewhere, the privacy policy of that site applies, and we would encourage you to read it.

Changes to this policy

If how this site handles data changes, this page changes with it, and the "last updated" date at the top will change too. Material changes will be reflected here before or as they take effect. Continuing to use the site after an update means accepting the revised policy.
