About the Commission Calculator

Commission pay rewards results but can be hard to predict. This calculator adds a commission — on sales above any quota — to your base pay, and shows the effective rate on total sales.

How it’s calculated

Commission = (sales − quota threshold) × commission rate. Total pay = base pay + commission.

Example calculation

A $2,500 base plus 8% commission on $60,000 of sales earns $7,300 for the period.

Frequently asked questions

What's a draw against commission?

An advance on future commissions that guarantees minimum pay in slow periods. If you don't earn it back in sales, it may be recovered later — check your plan's terms.

How are tiered commissions different?

Tiered plans pay higher rates as you pass sales milestones. This calculator uses a single flat rate above a threshold; for tiers, calculate each band separately.
