About the Pay Raise Calculator
A raise looks different by the year, the month, and the paycheck — and taxes take a share of each. This calculator shows your new salary from a percent or dollar raise and breaks the increase down per pay period.
How it’s calculated
New salary = current salary × (1 + raise%) for a percentage, or current salary + amount for a dollar raise. The increase is then divided across your pay periods.
Example calculation
A 5% raise on $70,000 lifts it to $73,500 — about $135 more per biweekly paycheck before taxes.
Frequently asked questions
Does my raise beat inflation?
Only if the percentage exceeds the inflation rate. A 3% raise when prices rose 4% is effectively a pay cut in buying power — compare against inflation.
Why is my take-home increase smaller?
Taxes and payroll deductions apply to the raise too, so your net increase per paycheck is less than the gross figure shown.
