How it’s calculated
Boxes = room area × (1 + waste%) ÷ coverage per box, rounded up.
Example calculation
A 15 × 12 ft room (180 sq ft) with 20 sq ft boxes and 10% waste needs 10 boxes.
Frequently asked questions
How much waste should I allow?
About 10% for a straight lay; 15–20% for diagonal layouts, herringbone, or rooms with many angles. Larger planks in a small room can also waste more.
Should I buy extra?
Yes — keep at least one spare box from the same lot number for future repairs, since dye lots vary between production runs.
