About the Unit Price Calculator

Enter the price and size of two options to compare their price per unit and see which is truly cheaper — because the bigger package isn't always the better value.

How it’s calculated

Price per unit = price ÷ size. The lower price per unit is the better deal.

Example calculation

$4.99 for 16 oz is $0.312/oz, while $7.49 for 28 oz is $0.268/oz — the larger size is about 14% cheaper per ounce.

Frequently asked questions

Do the two sizes need the same unit?

Yes — compare ounces to ounces, or grams to grams. Mixing units (ounces vs. grams) would make the comparison meaningless.

Is the bigger size always cheaper per unit?

Usually, but not always — 'bonus' sizes and promotions sometimes make a smaller package cheaper per unit, which is exactly what this calculator catches.
