About the Dividend Income Calculator
Dividend-paying investments produce income you can spend or reinvest. This calculator turns a portfolio value and yield into annual, quarterly, and monthly income, and can project it forward as dividends grow.
How it’s calculated
Annual income = portfolio value × dividend yield. Future annual income = current income × (1 + dividend growth)^years.
Example calculation
A $100,000 portfolio yielding 3.5% produces about $3,500 a year, or roughly $292 a month.
Frequently asked questions
Is dividend income guaranteed?
No — companies can reduce or suspend dividends, especially in downturns. A diversified set of holdings reduces the impact of any single cut.
Should I reinvest dividends?
Reinvesting buys more shares, which pay more dividends — compounding your income over time. Many investors reinvest until they actually need the cash.
Projections are illustrative and assume a constant rate of return; real investments fluctuate and may lose value. Past performance does not guarantee future results. This is not investment advice.
